Naija motorists, how far? If you’ve hit the road recently, you probably noticed something refreshing at the pumps—petrol now dey go for less than ₦900 per litre in many parts of the country! This relief came after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery dropped its ex-depot price by ₦40, and marketers have finally started adjusting their rates to match.

In Lagos and Ogun States, petrol now dey sell between ₦875 to ₦890 per litre, compared to the ₦925–₦960 range we dey see just last week. Even MRS Oil, one of Dangote’s major distributors, dropped their Lagos price from ₦925 to ₦885. Na small win, but for Naija wey every kobo counts, e still matter!

The story long sha. You remember say just a few weeks ago, fuel price jump because crude oil price rise reach almost $80 per barrel, thanks to wahala between Israel and Iran. But as peace return for the Middle East, crude prices calm down. Dangote quickly adjust him price to reflect the global change now down to ₦840 per litre from ₦880.

At first, most marketers no gree follow. Dem still dey sell high to clear old stock na business logic. According to Billy Gillis-Harry from the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, make dem sell the old fuel first before bringing in new stock at reduced cost. “Nobody wan lose ₦100 per litre,” the man talk.

But by Sunday, our street gist show say most filling stations don change their price boards. Along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, stations like AP, SGR, As-Sallam, Akiavic, and SAO now dey sell fuel at ₦875–₦890. Even big names like Rainoil and NIPCO dey adjust small small.

This na sharp u-turn from just three weeks ago, when petrol price touch ₦960 for some places in the north. With crude oil now below $70 per barrel, the downward trend fit continue—if no fresh wahala arise for the global market.

For Naija drivers, this na breather, even if small. E no be total solution, but at least, e no dey go up like NEPA pole again.
